Push to connect home devices leads to dangerous side effects

Botnets have been around for at least a decade. As early as 2000, hackers infiltrated computers via the Internet and controlled them en masse from centralized systems. Among other things, the hackers used the combined computing power of these botnets to launch distributed denial-of-service attacks that flood websites with traffic in order to shut them down.
